Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. I'm looking forward to working with students, staff, and parents. I would like to welcome everyone back to our district. I would like to welcome students and parents new to our district. I hope you will have a positive experience in the Raton Public Schools.

We here at the Raton Public Schools are excited about the upcoming school year. Staff will be starting on August 13 th . Staff will be in meetings on the 13 th , 14 th and 15th. The information we are giving to staff will help them get ready for the first day of school.

Students Pre-K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 first day will be August 16th. All students attend school August 17 th . Starting a new school year can be exciting and scary at the same time. We are here to support students and families in all school activities. Please partner up with the schools to assist and be a part in your children's education. Parental involvement is very important to students at any age. Stay involved with your student and know what they are doing academically. Students know when they have someone supporting them. When students are successful, they have a positive attitude and want to learn. I encourage everyone to strive to be the best role models for each other. I do challenge all students, parents, and staff to work together in a positive manner to make the school experience the best for our community.

I would like to thank the maintenance and custodial personal for all the hard work they do to get the schools ready for the start of the year. They put in many long hours to make sure the school is ready when students arrive. Again, I am looking forward to a new school year in the Raton Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Andy Ortiz, Superintendent RPS
